Riding the Stone Wheelers 25mile TT in a time of 56:17

14/09/14 Last weekend saw the last chance for me to improve
my 25 mile BBAR time and try my best to hang onto 3rd place.
The event was held by Stone Wheelers on the fast A50 (J5/8) course in near perfect conditions.
I had previously done a pb of 56:49 however unfortunately this was not a BBAR therefore
I had to try to improve on 57:20. It was a potentially fast but strange course as the first 14 miles were downhill
into a headwind which funnily enough made it feel like quite hard work! The advantage we had was from the turn where
we enjoyed the benefit (?) of a tailwind up the final 'concrete mountain' part of the course.
I accidently caught a glimpse of my average speed with about 2 miles to go and realised I could do a 56 if I kept it going.
It's funny how the adrenaline kicks in at this point and I went as hard as I could to the line finishing
with extremely tired legs but a time of 56:17 knocking just over a minute off my BBAR time.
Despite feeling much harder than the Etwall course (A25/11) it was a great event and in the right weather
conditions can obviously produce some fast times. The course record was broken by several of the men and
Jasmijn Muller flew round in a phenomenal time of 53:34 (putting her the 7th fastest woman of all time!)
which may see her moving up to lead the BBAR tables ahead of Paula Moseley.

Birdwell Wheeler's 10, was a first ride of the season for Ruth Marsden & Ali Sea
and the first 2up 10 mile TT for WCS RT.
ALi had her front wheel pringled as she put it before the start, but this didn't stop the intrepid duo,
they borrowed a wheel and set the WCS RT club 2up TT record showing true Yorkshire grit.

6/05/2013 AUDAX EVENT Anna completes 300 Kilometer audax from Alfreton to Skegness
On the 6th May Anna Hallam competed in the 300k Audax cycle ride with Her Husband Matthew,
& his friend Chris. This Started from Alfreton at 6:24 cycling all the way to good old Skeggy
via Newark and Woodhall Spa. Up the coast from Skeggy to Sutton-on-Sea, then back
via Horncastle, Lincoln, Ollerton, Sutton-in-Ashfield to finish at 11:00pm.
Obviously that time accounts for various refreshment breaks at cafes, shops, petrol garages,
and even a McD's... well they do nice tea says Anna.
The sun seriously came out to play and Anna is now the owner of some seriously dodgy cyclists tan lines...
Ave speed higher than normal as I had prolonged periods of shameless wheel sucking behind the boys!
